You Left Internet Tracks
all over my computer!!
You may not be aware of what's happening as your
browser guides you to Ebay or perhaps to a less
tasteful site. All you do is click a link from your
favorites menu right? Yes and no. That's all the
interaction you may have noticed, but your browser
is doing much more behind the scenes.
Every time you surf to a web site, pictures from
that web site, the information you typed in while
at the site and the address you typed in are all
stored on your computer. Anyone with just a little
bit of computer knowledge can easily see where
and what you've been doing while surfing on the
internet. As a test of proof - do this:
Open up Internet Explorer
Click Tools
Internet Options
Look in the middle of the window that just opened
for Temporary Internet Files.
Click on the settings button.
Click on view files and hold on to your seat.
See all those files? These represent all the places
you've surfed to.
In the settings menu that you clicked to view
all the temporary internet files is also where
you can control the attributes (behavior) of the
browser. You may specify how many temporary internet
files you want stored on your computer and control
cookies in this window. Have a look around at
these settings. Click on the help button to get
a better idea of what these functions do.
